Dr. Eugene A. Woltering is the James D. Rives Professor of Surgery and Neurosciences at the Louisiana State University Health Sciences Center in New Orleans Louisiana. Dr Woltering graduated with honors from Case Western Reserve University in 1971 and graduated form the Ohio State University College of Medicine in 1975. Dr Woltering completed his general surgical training at Vanderbilt University in Nashville Tennessee and did Surgical Oncology fellowships at the NIH and The Ohio State University.

Dr. Woltering has held academic positions at the Ohio State University and the Oregon Health Sciences University and is currently the Chief of the Section of Surgical Endocrinology and Director of Surgical Research at the Louisiana State University Health Sciences Center in New Orleans, Louisiana. Dr. Woltering has written over 150 peer- reviewed manuscripts and has filed 16 patents on novel diagnostic and therapeutic discoveries. He is a member of a host of national and international professional societies.

Dr. Woltering donates a significant amount of his time as the physician moderator of three Internet listservs all of which are for neuroendocrine tumor patients. He is a world renowned expert in these rare cancers and is one of the co-founders of the NOLANETS (New Orleans Louisiana Neuroendocrine Tumor Specialists) clinic in Kenner Louisiana, He and his group have treated patients from almost every state and numerous foreign countries. The clinic is a joint effort between Ochsner Medical Center, Kenner and Louisiana State University Health Sciences Center New Orleans.

Dr. Woltering's professional interests are in the diagnosis and treatment of neuroendocrine tumors. His laboratory interests include the development of human models of angiogenesis and the development of radiolabeled compounds for targeted therapy.
