Dr. Sherif S. Hanna is a surgical oncologist with a special interest in Hepatic, Pancreatic and Biliary tract (HPB) Oncology.

Dr. Hanna completed his postgraduate medical training at the University of Toronto in the specialty of General Surgery in 1976, after which he trained in surgical oncology at the Princess Margaret Hospital for one year. He subsequently trained in liver surgery in Denver, Colorado for a year (1978-79) and Atlanta, Georgia for 6 months.

He returned to the University of Toronto to join the staff of Sunnnybrook Health Sciences Centre in January 1980 where he has practiced HPB surgical oncology until now.

From 1992-2002 he served as Head of the Division of General Surgery at Sunnybrook. In July 2001 he was appointed as the Head of the Surgical Oncology Program at the Odette Cancer Centre at Sunnybrook Health Sciences Centre.

Dr. S. Hanna is an Associate Professor in the Department Of Surgery at the University of Toronto. In addition to his surgical practice, his research interests include investigating the outcomes of Liver, Pancreatic, Gallbladder and Bile Duct Cancers. He has a special interest in the surgical treatment of Neuroendocrine tumours of the Gastrointestinal (GI) tract, Liver and Pancreas.
