Dr William D Foulkes B.Sc, MB, BS, MRCP, PhD

Dr William D FoulkesDr Foulkes has been Director, Program in Cancer Genetics, Departments of Oncology and Human Genetics, McGill University, Montreal, QC, since 2001. In 2009, he was appointed Professor, Departments of Medicine, Human Genetics and Oncology, Mc Gill University, Montreal, QC.

Dr Foulkes graduated BSc,(anatomy) MB.BS, (medicine) MRCP, (adult medicine) and PhD (genetics) from University of London, UK.

He has received many awards at McGill since 2002 including his Professorship which extends from 2009-2016. Dr Foulkes is also the recipient of many grants. One grant is titled, A research and knowledge network on genetic health services and policy: building on the APOGEE-Net and CanGene Test experiences.

Dr Foulkes has an extensive list of 291 research publications to his credit with many focusing on hereditary cancer mechanisms. Human genetics is now at the forefront of academic medicine. In addition, its applicability to the management of individuals with, or at risk of, cancer has created the sub-specialty of clinical cancer genetics.

"Hereditary cancer has been a prominent feature of research at McGill University in the last decade. Our mission is to establish in Montreal a leading inter-disciplinary centre for hereditary cancer genetics that will provide an ideal environment for clinical service, research and teaching."
