Dr Prosanto ChaudhuryDr. Chaudhury graduated from McGill University’s medical school, in 1998 and went on to compete 6 years of training in General Surgery, also at McGill. During this time, he also spent 1 ½ years doing laboratory research under the supervision of Dr. Nicolas Christou.

Upon completing his surgical training, he went on to pursue two years of Fellowship training in Transplant and Hepato-pancreato-biliary (HPB) surgery, also at the MUHC. In addition, during this time he has successfully completed his M.Sc. in Evidence-Based Health Care at Oxford University. He then completed an additional Fellowship in Organ Transplantation at Northwestern University in Chicago. There Dr. Chaudhury participated in all aspects of multi-organ transplantation and in Hepato-pancreato-biliary surgery. Since 2007, Dr. Chaudhury has been appointed as an Assistant Professor in the Department of Surgery at McGill University, and is a member of the MUHC HPB and Multi-organ Transplant team.

From a research and education standpoint, Dr. Chaudhury organizes and is responsible for an Evidence-based journal club and the teaching and integration of Evidence-Based Medicine into the surgical curriculum. He is involved in outcomes related research and clinical trials in the realm of both transplant and HPB oncology.

His primary research focuses on the management of liver metastases from HPB tumours such as neuroendocrine tumours. Once validated, these approaches may be able to increase the number of patients who can be offered curative surgery. In addition, he is involved in several projects prospectively examining outcomes after liver, kidney and pancreas transplantation.
