Monica Warner is a registered dietitian, certified dietitian-nutritionist, and certified diabetes educator with a Master of Science degree in Nutrition and Public Health from Columbia University, NYC. Since 1987 she has served as Director of Development and Research Coordinator for the Carcinoid Cancer Foundation, located in Westchester County, New York. She is also a nutrition consultant for the Foundation. Carcinoid cancer, neuroendocrine tumors, and diabetes have been the focus of Ms. Warner's work in the field of nutrition for the past twenty years.
From 1982 to 1987, Ms. Warner was affiliated with St. Agnes Hospital in White Plains, New York, serving as the Nutrition Education Coordinator in the Department of Staff Development and Patient Education. She has also been an educator for Westchester Community College, teaching an undergraduate course entitled, "Nutrition in Health and Disease." Ms. Warner was the Westchester area nutritionist for the Dairy Council of Metropolitan New York from 1981-1982, planning and implementing nutrition education programs for health professionals, community leaders, and educators. She has been a research nutritionist for the Albert Einstein College of Medicine (1980-1981) and a clinical dietitian for Roosevelt Hospital in New York City (1964-1968).
Active in the community, Ms. Warner has conducted numerous professional seminars on topics ranging from nutrition for senior citizens to dietary management for diabetics to nutrition and the heart. IBM, the Westchester-Rockland Newspaper, the American Heart Association (Westchester/Putnam Chapter), and New York Medical College are among the organizations and businesses for which she conducted seminars.
Ms. Warner is the author of publications on diabetes and diet for women over 40. She is a member of many professional organizations, including the American Dietetic Association (ADA), the American Association of Diabetes Educators (AADE), American Heart Association (AHA), American Society of Clinical Oncology (ASCO) and the Society for Nutrition Education, among others.
Ms. Warner earned a Bachelor of Science degree in Food and Nutrition from Teachers College in Stockholm, Sweden, and an M.S. degree in Nutrition and Public Health from Columbia University in New York City. She is fluent in several languages, including Swedish and French.
