Dr. Liu brings his vast knowledge and cutting edge experience
in the field of interventional oncology. He was the first
physician in the Pacific Northwest to perform Yttrium-90
microsphere administration (injection of microscopic radioactive
beads through arteries to treat liver tumors) , and to
date has performed over 300 radiembolizations.
Recognized as a leader in his field, Dr. Liu is very active in research related to localized cancer therapies, including new techniques in radioactive microsphere administration, drug eluting microsphere embolization, radiofrequency ablation, cryoablation, microwave thereapiesas well as gene vector virus injectables. He continues to work in collaboration with a number of major US research institutions, sits on several international medical advisory boards and maintains a busy clinical Interventional Radiology practise.
Dr. Liu was born and raised in Brandon, Manitoba.
He has served as a family physician, as educator for
the Canadian Armed
Forces, and as Chief Resident for the Department of
Radiology at the University of British Columbia. He
and his wife Sonya enjoy skiing, scuba diving, running,
hiking and have traveled extensively in Asia.
