Philippa Davies RN, BN
Philippa graduated from Glasgow University, Scotland,
UK in 1997 with a Bachelor of Nursing Degree and then
began working as an Oncology/Haematology nurse at The
Royal Berkshire Hospital, Reading, Berkshire, UK where
she worked for 5 years and progressed to ward sister
of the Oncology/Haematology Unit.
Philippa gained further experience in the USA working
for 18months within the oncology unit of The Baptist
Hospital, Kendal, Miami.
On return to the UK in 2005 she began work within the
Neuroendocrine Tumour Unit at The Royal Free Hospital,
London, UK with lead clinician Dr Martyn Caplin. She
now works as the senior clinical nurse specialist within
the hospital. Philippa is currently completing a Masters
in Advanced Cancer Care and is involved in research
within the unit. She has spoken in various settings
including at the UKINET (United Kingdom and Ireland
Neuroendocrine Tumour Society) meetings. She is also
involved in various strategies in the UK to help develop
links with other nurses, to enhance standards of care
and improve patient care and support.
She has co-organised the first NET International Nurse
Conference held at The Royal Free Hospital in 2006.
Philippa has recently been appointed a member of the
Executive Committee of the UK and Ireland Neuroendocrine
Tumour Society.
